I haven't posted to my blog for over a month and I thought that I would make this quick post to share my thoughts about "Family and Preparedness". I think one of the most important valuable experience a person can have living upon this earth is to have the desire, privilege, and responsibility to be a companion (married, legally and lawfully) to the opposite gender and to raise children in the Lord.
Sometimes people ask me what was the best thing that I have done in my life? Was it being on the tennis professional tour? Was it going to college and obtaining the coveted college degrees? Is it being a teacher in the public schools? What? What is it that I have done that has made my life worth living and exciting? As I reflect on this question at this time, I have found the answer.
The BEST thing I have done in this life has all been related to and surrounded in the family! This reality has only been known to me because of my faith as a Latter-day Saint. The teachings in The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints has taught me the Plan of Happiness, which is the Plan of Salvation, or which I consider the Family Plan. I guess this is what has attracted me to using the cell services in one of the competing wireless service that offers the Family Plan.
So, I will get directly to the point of the question...What is the BEST thing that I have done in my life? The answer to this question is the honor, privilege, and knowledge of the importance of being a faithful and loving husband, and also, being a TEAM with my wife to be responsible, loving, and caring parents. I love this part of my life!
I am so thankful to God that I have found true happiness! It is in the FAMILY that we learn the many important things in life, IF we are taught, and these many lessons are brought to fruition in the home.
So, my topic of this blog posting, "Family and Preparedness". I think one of the most important things is the Family and being prepared and preparing my children to be successful in the world they will inherit. So, what should one be doing in the family?
My answer is learning our proper roles as husband, father, wife and mother, children and siblings. It is in these critical and important settings that we learn how to deal with the things that one will encounter in life and in the world. If there are any components within this family setting that are missing, then I would argue or submit to you my readers (being only me at this time), that our dealings and interactions with others outside of the family will be distorted and somewhat deficient. Hence, our preparedness is muted for the world we inherit.
So, my job is to be the BEST husband and father that will hopefully be guided by the Almighty according to my faith in Jesus Christ and my willingness to keep the teachings and commandments that Christ taught...and, if I do so...I will raise my children to duplicate the same family plan that will be passed on to my posterity.
So, what is it that I should be doing in my home so that "Family and Preparedness" can be optimized. Well, I would submit to you, my reader (me, and other readers in the future) is to be teaching my children the admonition of the Lord, be well educated in the three R's, be financially literate or better yet, impart financial wisdom so that they (my children) will be prepared for their world.
What would be the outcome and result by so doing...I must quote, from the scriptures, "If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear!" Hence, those who are not prepared will experience many inadequacies, sorrows, frustrations, and fear. On the other, those that are prepared, will experience peace in this life, and eternal life in the next...
This blog will discuss issues about Investing which is my favorite hobby and passion, the economy which affects our decisions directly or indirectly, whether we know it or not; the importance of families, which molds our thoughts, ideas, associations, beliefs, and behaviors; and politics, which some people are passionate about discussing/debating, or has apathy toward it. Regardless, these issues somehow are all related to our thinking and behavior.
